Philip is a prime example of a person who remained adaptable.

After being scattered because of persecution, Philip went down to Samaria and preached to them, and a great revival broke out; healings, deliverance, miracles, and joy (see Acts 8:1-8).

This is a place many people desire to be. In a multitude impacting, outpouring of the Spirit and revival. Perhaps a place to set-up camp, “build a ministry” and call it home.

However, an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, commanding him to arise and go to a deserted place (see Acts 8:26).

Even during a time of breakout, Philip was willing to adapt to the directive of God and head to the desert. He was then led to speak to one Ethiopian man. Philip explained the scriptures as requested, and then baptized the man.

With the mission to gather the one complete, Philip was then “caught away” by the Holy Spirit, and was then found in Azotus, where he continued to preach in all the cities.

Philip was constantly moved to new people and environments, but his call never changed. He just remained adaptable to what God was doing with him.

Philip was never about his own importance; it was always about the purposes of God and adapting to the need.

Be encouraged…

You may be going through a process of change, but take heart, change does not discount your calling, because it is your calling. And like Philip, you must remain adaptable through change, to fulfil what God is doing with you.

You may be in a revival but required to leave to reach that one person and bring them hope. Or you may only have one person and be walking through a season of persecution and self-denial.

Either way I encourage you to remain adaptable. Because tomorrow He could be leading you to your own Samaria moment, where you get to witness an outpouring, you never saw coming.

PHILIPPIANS 4:11-13 ~ “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Stay Blessed
